“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

If there was anyone that would experience The difference between trusting in a man made item like a chariot it would be David. Remember, David was supposed to build the Temple but as we read in 1 Chronicles 22:8 “But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have waged great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed so much blood before me on the earth.” (1 Chronicles‬ ‭22:8‬ ‭ESV) This leads me to believe that David didn’t always trust in the Lord in these battles. I’m sure the encouragement of his followers didn’t help matters. Accolades from people in the congregation can cause a pastor or worship leader to begin thinking more highly of themselves than they ought. Putting them in a situation where they trust more in their talents than the One that gave them the talents.

We need to always carry the humble attitude of remembering we should never bring glory to what God has given us. But, we should always bring glory to Giver of the gift. And that would be God Himself!
